Library Board of Trustees
The Library Board of Trustees manages the Willows Public Library in accordance with Chapter 2.70 of the Willows Municipal Code. The Board provides leadership and oversight to ensure the library serves the educational, informational, and cultural needs of the community.
Purpose and Responsibilities
- Oversee library programs and services to ensure they meet community needs and promote lifelong learning.
- Recommend library policies and improvements to enhance operations, collections, and public access.
- Manage library funds and trust accounts, approving purchases and expenditures in accordance with city and state regulations.
- Support library development by advising on long-term planning, community outreach, and facility needs.
- Encourage public use and engagement by fostering partnerships and promoting awareness of library services.
Membership and Authority
The Library Board of Trustees is composed of five members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms at the pleasure of the Council. The Board manages the library consistent with state law and the City’s ordinances.
Meetings
Regular meetings are held every other month, typically on the second Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Eubanks Room at Willows City Hall. All meetings are open to the public and conducted in accordance with the Brown Act. Agendas and minutes are available on the City of Willows publicly accessible website.
